Colbeck’s Corner – 8/03/17

Let’s get something straight now, I love Wolverine as a character. He is

hairy, he likes Whiskey, he is short-tempered and he is built like a Greek god.

Apart from the last one, he is something of a kindred spirit to me. So, I’m kind of

worried to see Logan, in case it ruins it for me, like most of the X-Men films ruined

it for me. Hugh Jackman has been a great Wolverine to be fair; he’s the best

character from the X-Men franchise for me. I don’t know why but for some

reason X-Men and Fantastic 4, (especially Fantastic 4,) never seem to get it right.

Felt like the plot for the last Fantastic 4 movie I saw was written by a five-year

old kid coming down from a major sugar rush.

Speaking of sugar rushes, King Tropicana aka President Trump is still out here

on what seems to be the best sugar in the world because his Twitter feed is pure

gold. In-between taking shots at Arnold Schwarzenegger, mouthing off about the

FBI and wrestling with Wikileaks, now he’s claiming Barack Obama tapped his

phone at Trump tower in the run up to the election. This dude must be high, they

need to restrict his timeline privileges and give him something shiny to play with

like a trumpet or something. He’ll like that because he can say he puts the Trump

in trumpet. Small things like that matter to somebody with the terrifying

insecurity Donald possesses. If, by some wild stretch what he says is true then

Obama is the epitome of Presidential Thug Life!

In more positive news Nike have introduced a pro athletic Hijab for Muslim

athletes, I think in a time where Xenophobia seems to be growing in strength

that this is a great move from Nike. (By the way if you haven’t read the book by

Phil Knight who founded Nike then check it out it’s called Shoe Dog) Respect to

Also on the subject of sport Arsene Wenger is just about taking that last step

towards the gallows as Arsenal manager. Arsenal got hammered 5-1 against

Bayern Munich for the second time is the last couple of weeks. All of the fans are

calling for him to go and, to be honest, the reason it really is time for a lot of

Arsenal fans, I know is, because Spurs are catching them up. Wenger’s done an

awful lot for the club but there’s only so often he can live off the goodwill of past

Oooh I also forgot to mention I have a wonderful new memory foam pillow, it is

luxurious! So comfy bu,t the problem is, I seem to get less work done because I

don’t want to get up. I need more coffee as a result and, with coffee in mind, I’ve

just read on the Guardian website that Coffee chain, Pret a Manger, claims it will

struggle to find staff after Brexit because only one in fifty job applicants are

British. I don’t see how this could be the case because, when I go to a coffee

shop, I never see may people working there. Maybe two or three behind the

counter and probably some workers out the back washing cups and so on. And of

the 50 applicants I presume only one or two will get taken on. I know plenty of

unemployed British people who’d jump at the opportunity of a job so I think they

wouldn’t struggle at all.

So, there we have it I suppose. It’s been another day, another week of life and

pointless yet riveting drivel. Hope you’ve all enjoyed and if you want to chast you

know where to find me!
