A growing number of young people are too shy to set foot in a coffee shop, with one in ten (10%) of Gen Z now turning to AI to figure out how to make a cup of joe.
According to new research from coffee experts at Philips, this tech-savvy generation is showing signs of serious ‘Baristaphobia’ – with 7% admitting they’re too intimidated to even approach a barista. Ordering coffee isn’t the only stress for Gen Z, with two out of five (38%) saying that making it for someone else fills them with dread, for fear of getting it wrong. As well as brewing anxiety, nearly half (48%) are also fed up with the rising cost of takeaway coffee, with London, Brighton and Edinburgh feeling it the most.
