| Caerphilly Council’s ambitious transformation programme has delivered savings of £4.5million during 2025/26, playing a key role in helping the Council reach 90.3% of its overall savings target while maintaining vital services. Since being launched in 2023, the innovative programme identifies improvements and efficiencies by reviewing the way the council delivers its services and has already secured £13.5million in savings. Services across the organisation are being reviewed as part of the transformation programme and the Leader of Council has pledged that ‘no stone will be left unturned’ during the process. The Council’s current priority projects for the year ahead include a review of vacant homes and temporary accommodation, a review of third party spend, a review of overtime and call out arrangements and a detailed review of workforce planning and staffing levels. Work is also taking place to transform Catering, Education and Social Services to identify further savings and efficiencies. Leader of Council, Cllr Jamie Pritchard, commented “These results demonstrate the significant progress we are making through our transformation programme. This work started in earnest back in 2023 and we have already saved £13.5million thanks to the collective efforts of staff and councillors” “This important work will continue at pace identifying areas where we can make efficiencies. By 2028/29, our savings figure will increase to £30million ensuring we can invest in services that matter most to our communities”. Transformation savings – in numbers: |

- The transformation savings proposals and target for the next year 2026/27 include another £9 million.
- The 2026/27 budget identifies a further £7.7million over the next 3 years
- Overall, the programme is therefore expected to deliver £30.2million between 2024/25 and 2028/29.
