Sleeping bag? Check. Flashlight? Check. Food supplies? Check! Everything is packed for Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Cardiff new ‘Sleepover at Home’ event.
Museum Sleepover: Dino Nights, which is supported by players of the People’s Postcode Lottery, will be held on 5-6 February 2022. The event will start at 1.00pm and finish at 10.00am the following day.
The event will take families on a trip through time back to when dinosaurs roamed the earth through a mixture of live and pre-recorded materials featuring items from the Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales collections. A similar event held in 2021 won the Family Friendly Museum Award 2021 for Best Digital Event.
Museum Sleepover: Dino Nights is suitable for children 6-12 years old, and the event will include a British Sign Language ticket option, as well as the option to take part in Welsh or English. The event, which is supported by players of the People’s Postcode Lottery, will give families an opportunity to spend time together and help to create lasting memories.
Cindy Howells, Curator of Palaeontology at Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales, helped to shape the event and says:
“The past year has given many of us time to reflect on what’s important, such as spending time with our families. We hope that the sleepover will bring families together safely whilst inspiring everyone with the wonders of science and prehistory.”
Tickets for the event are £5.00 (+ an Eventbrite booking fee) for the whole family and are available to purchase now from the museum’s website: www.museum.wales
