Have your say on county’s active travel plan

RESIDENTS are being given the final chance to have their say on Carmarthenshire’s active travel plan before it is submitted to Welsh Government.

A final consultation event is being held at St Peters Civic Hall in Carmarthen on Tuesday, October 17 between 1pm and 4pm.

The council wants feedback on the county’s walking and cycling routes, as well as suggested improvements and potential new links as part of its commitment under The Active Travel (Wales) Act 2013.

The aim is to produce an Integrated Network Map, setting out the council’s 15 year programme of improvements to active travel routes in the county.

Members of the public will be able to view individual maps for different areas showing both current and planned future provision and discuss them with officers.

Executive Board Member for the Environment Cllr Hazel Evans said: “I hope residents take advantage of this final opportunity to give their views on the county’s walking and cycling routes to help us prioritise what is important.

“We want to make active travel the most attractive option for shorter journeys and to connect key sites such as workplaces, hospitals, schools and shopping areas with traffic free routes and cycle lanes.”
