Live opera is coming to Llanelli! And we’ve teamed up with Mid Wales Opera and Ffwrnes in Llanelli to offer you the chance to win a pair of tickets to see Tchaikovsky’sEugene Onegin on Thursday March 29th.
Mid Wales Opera’s brand new production of Tchaikovsky’s lyrical masterpiece is on tour across Wales this Spring, with a cast which mixes rising stars with established talent and an orchestra in association with Ensemble Cymru.
The opera tells the story of Tatyana, a bookish country girl whose peaceful life is shattered when the handsome stranger Eugene Onegin visits her family home along with his best friend, her sister’s fiancée Lensky. Tatyana falls instantly in love, pouring out her heart in a passionate letter to Onegin – who rejects her, telling her he is not the marrying type.
Five years pass, and we meet Tatyana again in St Petersburg, now a great aristocratic beauty and married to the Prince Gremin. Onegin arrives at a ball at their glamorous city house and is instantly struck by this woman – the same Tatyana he rejected all those years ago. Though seeing Onegin again stirs up her old feelings of love and longing, Tatyana is determined to remain faithful to the man she married but does not love.
For your chance to see their story of love and loss unfold live on stage to Tchaikovsky’s beguiling and sensuous score, just answer the simple question below:-
