Caravan enforcement

A TROSTRE man has been prosecuted by Carmarthenshire County Council for failing to remove an unauthorised caravan from land at Furnace Pond in Llanelli.

Wayne Fuller pleaded guilty at Carmarthen Magistrates Court to the unauthorised siting of a mobile home at land north of Furnace Pond. The case had been listed for trial and he changed his plea to guilty on the day.

The court was told that a planning enforcement file was opened as a result of public concern about the siting of a caravan at Furnace Pond in September 2012. An enforcement notice was issued last November which was not appealed.

The new owner of the land has inherited the enforcement notice, and the local authority will now request the removal of the caravan within six weeks.

Mr Fuller, of Trostre, Llanelli, was fined £165 for the offence under Section 179 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 and ordered to pay full prosecution costs of £358 and a £20 victim surcharge.

Executive board member for environmental and public protection Cllr Jim Jones said: “If people fail to comply with an enforcement notice we will not hesitate to prosecute. It is important to prevent planning policies from being flouted.”
