Public advised to stay indoors due to severe wind

Dyfed-Powys Police is receiving a number of reports of roofing material being blown off buildings in Cardigan, Aberystwyth, Pembrokeshire, Ystradgynlais and Llanelli.

The safety of the public is paramount, and a decision has been made to close Cardigan High Street due to the danger posed by falling slates. Please stay away from these areas and stay indoors as much as possible.

Try not to walk or shelter close to buildings and trees. As the Met Office have a ‘Red’ weather warning of wind in place this afternoon and this evening we ask that you follow the advice on what to do in severe wind before, during and after by following this link http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/learning/wind/severe-wind-infographic

And please keep an eye on agencies social media accounts for any updates and information: @DyfedPowys, @MetOffice, @PembrokeshireCC, @CeredigionCC, @CarmsCouncil, @MWWFRS, @NatResWales
