At approx. 12.55 this afternoon police were alerted to a loud bang and smoke rising into the air in Bryngwyn School, Bryngwyn Road, Llanelli. Fire Service and Ambulance were in attendance, and it was established that an external transformer had exploded. Western Power were alerted, and have confirmed that over 500 customers are without power supply following the incident.

The school has been evacuated as a precaution and all pupils and staff are accounted for, and no one is injured. The fire service have set up a cordon.

We emphasise all children are safe, and parents do NOT need to attend at the school. Western Power are working on getting power supply back to the area.
