Former Swans star Lee Trundle and local DJ Kevin Johns are among those inspiring pupils from a Swansea school to work hard and pursue their dream careers.
Children from Clwyd School in Penlan had the chance to find out more information from a wide range of professions in an event arranged by the local Communities First Team and Job Centre Plus.
The children then put the professionals on the spot by asking questions about each role.
Amongst those who gave up their time to help out on the day were former Swansea City Footballer (and now ambassador for the Club) Lee Trundle and Swansea Sounds’ Kevin Johns.
Employees from a range of other professions also gave up their time to attend including a paramedic, a supermarket worker from Tescos, a bike mechanic from Wheelies Direct, a midwife, a member of the armed forces, police officer, and members of the fire service.
The Meet the Worker event, now in its second year, provides children with the chance to find out more information about the jobs that they would be interested in carrying out in the future.
It is also the second year running that Communities First and Job Centre Plus have teamed up with Clwyd School in Penlan.
Will Evans, Swansea Council Cabinet Member for Anti-Poverty, said: “This project is extremely valuable as it really helps children to focus on what role they want to take in society and what job they aspire to in the future. This in turn has a positive long term effect on people’s confidence, sense of self-worth and ambition, leading to more people having good jobs, and contributing to lower levels of poverty across our city.”
Swansea Sounds’ Kevin Johns said: “This is a brilliant event. The children have hopes, dreams and ambition and this will help them achieve their aims later in life.”
