Four people have been fined for dropping cigarette ends.
Environmental enforcement officers issued the fixed penalty notices for £75 for littering.
The first was to a male in McDonalds car park in Carmarthen, a male and female were also fined in Parc Trostre and a woman was caught throwing a cigarette end out of a car window in Leekes car park in Cross Hands.
Failure to pay could lead to court prosecution and a maximum fine of up to £2,500.
Approximately 80% of litter in Carmarthenshire is smoking-related.
Executive Board Member for Environmental and Public Protection Cllr Jim Jones said: “Dropping litter is against the law; whether it is discarding rubbish from a vehicle, throwing cigarette ends or spitting out chewing gum.
“Hopefully these fines will act as a warning to others that this type of anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated. The council is committed to improving the quality of the environment in Carmarthenshire and will not hesitate to punish those that flout the law.”
