Experts from across the county got together last Friday (October 16th) for the first ever Pembrokeshire Play Conference.
Organised by Pembrokeshire County Council, delegates explored the importance of play to children’s development via presentations and workshops.
It also examined ways in which the public, private and voluntary sectors could better work together.
Opened by Pembrokeshire County Council’s head of children’s services, Allison Parkinson, the conference was held at the Bridge Innovation Centre in Pembroke Dock.
Guest speakers included representatives from PlayWales, Swansea University, Team Around The Family, Communities First and Hywel Dda University Health Board.
Councillor Sue Perkins, Cabinet Member for Education, said it had been important to get representatives of so many agencies together to discuss the future of play in the county
“It’s vital that we forge partnerships across all sectors – public, private and voluntary – to ensure play opportunities for our children in the future,” she said.
Damian Golden, PCC’s Play Sufficiency Officer said all the participants had been incredibly enthusiastic.
“Everyone was keen to provide as many opportunities as possible for the children and young people of Pembrokeshire,” he said.
