The Welsh Conservatives have responded positively to the news this morning that Liberty House plans to submit a formal bid to buy Tata Steelâs UK assets.
A spokesperson for the Welsh Conservatives said:
âWe welcome the news that Liberty House is to submit a formal bid to buy Tataâs UK assets, which shows confidence that our steel industry has a profitable future in the global market.
âThis will no doubt offer a degree of comfort to the thousands of hardworking families across Wales and England.
âWelsh Conservatives believe that by utilising devolved levers to reform business rates and amend procurement rules, Wales can become a competitive environment for steelmaking, and if elected to government thatâs exactly what weâll do.
âThe Conservative Governmentâs efforts to support this process are now bearing fruit, and our colleagues in Westminster are doing all that they can to bring this process to a positive conclusion.â
