A new pay and display car park ticket machine has been installed in Maesyrafon Car Park, Aberystwyth which accepts payment by card.

Currently machines in Ceredigion County Council car parks only take coin payments but the Authority is trialling new and alternative payment options to try and make paying more convenient for users.

The machine in Maesyrafon will form part of a six month trial which will help the Council make a decision about the type of car parking payment machines it offers in its car parks.

Councillor Alun Williams, Cabinet Member for Environmental Services, Assets, Transport and Carbon Management, said: “”People have been asking for the facility to make card payments at car parks so the Council is responding with this trial. The new machine accepts coins as well as contactless and chip & pin card payments. We hope the trial will be successful and that we can move forward from there.”

Note: During the trial a 25p convenience fee will apply to card payments. All other car park machines will remain coin only but this will be reviewed following the trial.
