Mid and West Assembly Member Simon Thomas has demanded action from
the Labour Government in Wales over the lack of adequate broadband
provision in Bynea.

Simon Thomas was contacted by Plaid Cymru community councillor Ian
Woolridge on behalf of residents from Pencoed Isaf Road, Bynea about
missing out on a decent broadband connection.

Party of Wales, Mid and West AM Simon Thomas said:

“I’ve written to the Minister responsible Julie James to ask her
officials to look into this matter particularly why the fibre optic
service is not being extended from nearby Station Road.

“A number of residents on Pencoed Isaf Road run businesses and the
lack of good broadband puts them at a disadvantage with competitors.
They will be left behind as competitors will be able to benefit from
improved services.

“I am also informed that even the basic telephone service in this
postcode area is unreliable. Heaven knows what could happen if there
was an emergency.

“Residents quite rightly are asking why they should have to pay the
same line rental and broadband charges as others for vastly inferior
services. Plaid Cymru is demanding action to tackle this unfair
practice.”

Codi pryderon am ddarpariaeth band eang Llanelli gyda’r Llywodraeth
Lafur

Mae Aelod Cynulliad y Canolbarth a’r Gorllewin Simon Thomas wedi
gofyn am weithredu gan y Llywodraeth Lafur yng Nghymru dros ddiffyg
darpariaeth band eang digonol yn y Bynie.

Cysylltodd cynghorydd cymuned Plaid Cymru, Ian Woolridge â Simon
Thomas ar ran preswylwyr o Heol Pencoed Isaf, Y Bynie am y diffyg
darpariaeth band eang yn yr ardal.

Dywedodd AC y Canolbarth a Gorllewin Simon Thomas:

“Rwyf wedi ysgrifennu at y Gweinidog sydd â chyfrifoldeb, Julie
James, i ofyn i’w swyddogion ymchwilio i’r mater ac edrych yn
benodol ar pam nad yw’r gwasanaeth ffeibr optig yn cael ei estyn
o’r ffordd gyfagos, Heol yr Orsaf.

“Rwyf ar ddeall bod nifer o breswylwyr ar Heol Pencoed Isaf yn
rhedeg busnes ac mae diffyg darpariaeth band eang digonol yn eu rhoi o
dan anfantais o’u cymharu â’u cystadleuaeth. Dros amser, dim ond
gwaethygu wnaiff yr anfantais hon fel y bydd eu cystadleuaeth yn medru
elwa o wasanaethau sy’n gwella ac esblygu.

“Rwyf hefyd yn wybodus o’r ffaith bod hyd yn oed gwasanaeth ffôn
sylfaenol yn ardal y côd post yn annibynadwy. Pwy a ŵyr beth gallai
ddigwydd mewn sefyllfa o argyfwng.

“Mae’r etholwyr wedi cwestiynu, a hynny â pherffaith hawl,
cyfreithlondeb gorfod talu i ddefnyddio’r llinell rhentu a chostau
band eang am wasanaeth israddol. Mae Plaid Cymru yn gofyn am weithredu
i daclo’r arfer annheg hwn.”
