In response to new maps launched today by the Maternal Mental Health Alliance’s Everyone’s Business Campaign, Abi Wood, Head of Campaigns, NCT, said:

“There are signs of improvement in perinatal mental health services in some areas of Wales but the overall picture is still shockingly inadequate. The new maps show only Cardiff and Vale provision makes the grade while there are no specialist services whatsoever in Powys.

“There’s an urgent need for better mental health services for pregnant women and new mums not just in Wales but across the UK. Our #HiddenHalf campaign is calling for improvements to the six-week postnatal check-up to reduce the number of mothers with mental health problems who don’t get diagnosed and treated properly
