Llanelli flies update
COUNCIL officers are continuing their investigations to find the source of a fly problem in parts of Llanelli.
A sample has been tested by an external pest control company which has identified them as a common house fly.
Officers are continuing to search and investigate the area for the source of this matter.
Cllr Philip Hughes, executive board member for public protection, said: “Test results have identified that this is a common house fly, which unfortunately makes it very difficult to identify the source. We are, however, linking in with an external agency who will be sending expert technicians down as soon as possible to further assist our officers on the ground with trying to identify the source.
“We appreciate that this is a very unpleasant situation in this warm weather, but be assured we are doing all we can to try to locate the source and to solve this problem as soon as possible. We are also linking in with Public Health Wales to ensure the advice we are giving remains appropriate for the circumstances. Again, can I please remind people of basic hygiene advice, which is to keep food in containers and in the refrigerator, to clean work surfaces, keep windows closed when possible and to treat areas with household pesticides.”

MAE swyddogion y Cyngor yn parhau â’u hymchwiliadau i ddod o hyd i’r hyn sydd wedi achosi problem yn ymwneud â chlêr mewn rhannau o Lanelli.
Mae sampl wedi’i brofi gan gwmni rheoli plâu allanol yn dangos mai pryf tŷ yw’r gleren.
Mae swyddogion yn parhau i chwilio ac ymchwilio yn yr ardal er mwyn dod o hyd i ffynhonnell y broblem hon.
Dywedodd y Cynghorydd Philip Hughes, yr Aelod o’r Bwrdd Gweithredol dros Ddiogelu’r Cyhoedd: “Mae canlyniadau’r profion wedi dangos mai pryf tŷ yw’r gleren hon, sy’n golygu’n anffodus ei bod yn anodd iawn dod o hyd i’r ffynhonnell. Fodd bynnag, rydym yn cydweithio ag asiantaeth allanol a fydd yn anfon technegwyr arbenigol i’r ardal cyn gynted â phosibl i helpu ein swyddogion i geisio dod o hyd i’r ffynhonnell.
“Rydym yn deall ei bod yn sefyllfa annymunol iawn yn y tywydd twym hwn, ond gallwn eich sicrhau ein bod yn gwneud popeth y gallwn i ddod o hyd i’r ffynhonnell a datrys y broblem hon cyn gynted â phosibl. Hefyd rydym yn cydweithio ag Iechyd Cyhoeddus Cymru i sicrhau bod y cyngor rydym yn ei roi yn parhau i fod yn briodol yn yr amgylchiadau. Unwaith eto, hoffwn atgoffa pobl am gyngor hylendid sylfaenol, sef cadw bwyd mewn cynwysyddion ac yn yr oergell, glanhau arwynebau gwaith, cadw ffenestri ar gau pan fydd modd a thrin mannau â phlaladdwyr y cartref.”
