Dyfed-Powys Police is appealing for witnesses after a pony was shot in the neck with a crossbow.

The pony was in a distressed state having been shot in the neck, when it was found near the A4059 between Storey Arms and Hirwaun.

A member of the public came across the pony and contacted Welsh Pony Rehoming and Rescue Charitable Trust.   Due to the suffering of the mare it was approved by a vet for it to be put down.

Police are appealing for anyone with information on who might be responsible for this to contact them quoting crime reference: DPP/1941/29/09/2020/02/C
