With the new year underway, it’s important that drivers stay aware of the rules of the road and refresh themselves on all the laws. Richard Evans, head of technical services at webuyanycar, comments:

“As we welcome in the new year, it’s important that drivers stay up-to-date with the rules and laws on the roads. Our research shows that three in five (61%) motorists don’t believe that all drivers are aware of new driving rules and laws.

“When driving on UK roads, it is important for drivers to understand the Highway Code to make sure they aren’t breaking the law, and to ensure the safety of other road users. Over the last few years there have been some changes to the law with Scotland introducing a pavement parking ban and many areas adding 20mph zones or extending their ultra-low emission zones. Faced with the potential of fines or penalties for not obeying these rules, it’s even more important that drivers remind themselves of the rules.

“It’s important to stay mindful of what is going on when driving around for the safety of everyone on the road and to avoid any unnecessary fines. Our guide to UK road signs covers some of the most commonly encountered signs and their meanings, so drivers know what to be looking out for on the roads.”
