The family of Phyllis Sharp, a much-loved Cardiff great-grandmother known for her adventurous spirit and love of the rides at Folly Farm, are saddened to announce her peaceful passing at the age of 97.
Phyllis, who passed away surrounded by family after suffering a stroke, was a familiar face at Folly Farm and adored the thrills of the vintage rides — always eager to join in the fun, even in her later years. Right up to the end, she was making plans to return with her two great-granddaughters.
Her family said:
“Mum never lost her sense of fun and adventure. She loved the rides at Folly Farm and would light up with joy every time she went. It meant the world to her to share those moments with her great-granddaughters.”
Alongside her zest for life, Phyllis was cherished for her warmth, love of poetry and storytelling, and her strong Christian faith. As a long-standing member of the Church of the Resurrection, she had many friends in the congregation who will remember her with love.
A funeral service for Phyllis has already taken place at the Church of the Resurrection, followed by a committal at Thornhill Crematorium.
Her family added:
“We have been deeply touched by the many cards, messages, and kind words we’ve received. It has been such a comfort to know how much Mum was loved.”
Phyllis leaves behind children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends. She will be remembered fondly as a woman who never let age stand in the way of joy, laughter, and life’s adventures.
