Cold feet’ Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon

Responding to the Financial Times report that the UK Government is having cold feet over the Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon project, Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Energy Simon Thomas said:

“The Conservative Government is holding Wales back from developing this innovative project. Assembly Members across political divides are supportive yet Westminster refuses to listen. This constant dithering and delay damages the Welsh economy. This multi-million pound project could open a whole new global industry in Wales and lead to further developments across the nation. If we had full powers and control of this type of energy scheme we would have started this project long ago.”

‘Traed oer’ Morlyn Llanw Bae Abertawe

Yn ymateb i adroddiad yn y Financial Times bod Llywodraeth y DG yn cael traed oer ynglŷn â phrosiect Morlyn Llanw Bae Abertawe, dywedodd Ysgrifennydd Cabinet cysgodol dros Ynni, Simon Thomas:

“Mae’r Ceidwadwyr yn dal Cymru yn ôl rhag datblygu’r prosiect arloesol hwn. Mae gan y prosiect gefnogaeth drawsbleidiol gan Aelodau Cynulliad ond mae San Steffan yn gwrthod gwrando. Mae’r oedi a llusgo traed parhaol yn niweidio economi Cymru. Gall y prosiect miliynau o bunnau hwn agor diwydiant newydd byd-eang yng Nghymru ac arwain at datblygiadau pellach ledled y wlad. Gyda phwerau llawn dros y math yma o brosiect ynni, byddem wedi cychwyn datblygu’r prosiect ers talwm.”
