News today reveals that drivers in Wales could soon face tougher fines for parking on pavements under new powers for councils. Car insurance expert at Confused.com Alex Kindred says:

“It’s really important that pavements are clear for pedestrians, especially those trying to get through with pushchairs, wheelchairs or walking aids. But councils must recognise that a lack of available spaces makes parking a struggle for most drivers.

“Parking restrictions should also be made clearer, as it’s easy to get confused about where and when we can park because of unclear rules. If you’re a driver and you do see a ticket on your windscreen, use our checklist to see how you can challenge an unfair fine.”
