Stebonheath Co-Op was first formed in Llwynhendy in 2010. It successfully ran out of Communities First Llwynhendy’s offices for 18 months until the move to Stebonheath in July this year.
Now it is back, offering fresh fruit and vegetables at competitive prices sold to you at cost. The produce is fresh weekly and in fact the vegetables are pulled out of the ground on the Tuesday before delivery on Wednesday – you can’t get much fresher than that!
This project is backed by the Welsh Government’s Rural Regeneration Unit so you know you are supporting local Welsh farmers and suppliers.
Due to the scale of production, we have to have payment for the produce the Friday before Wednesday’s delivery. We need volunteers to support the sale of the goods by collecting the cash which goes directly to the farmers.
The fruit and vegetables are delivered wholesale to us and we separate, count and weigh them before taking them to given collection points at specified times. All we ask is that you give us a recyclable bag that we can exchange weekly. The veg pack is ideal for people in complexes who can share, or for large families to help ensure you get your 5 a day.
