People are encouraged to support the 2nd Battalion The Royal Welsh when they march through Llanelli town centre next week.
The regiment will parade through the town on Saturday, June 8, starting from the Selwyn Samuel Centre at 12noon.
They will be led by ‘Taffy’ the regimental mascot, and will be accompanied by the Royal Welsh band.
The parade will go from the Selwyn Samuel Centre to the Town Hall where there will be an inspection.
They will then be joined by a contingent of cadets from the Llanelli Company of the Dyfed and Glamorgan ACF, and the regiment will march up Church Street, Bridge Street, Thomas Street, Park Street and Stepney Street, before returning to the Selwyn Samuel Centre at approximately 1pm.
The regiment was given the Freedom of Carmarthenshire in 2008 and have paraded through Llanelli on previous occasions.
The parade will form part of the celebrations of the official reopening of Llanelli town centre following a £60 million regeneration programme.
People are asked to line the streets of the march to show their support for the Royal Welsh.
Carmarthenshire County Council Leader and Armed Forces Champion Cllr Kevin Madge said: “We very much welcome the return of the Royal Welsh regiment to Carmarthenshire, and to Llanelli.
“I hope people will give them a warm, Welsh welcome and line the streets as they march to show our support and appreciation for them.
“It is especially pleasing that they are marching this weekend when we are celebrating the investment in the town centre.”
