Llanelli Town pulled off a transfer day loan swoop this evening (Monday) as the transfer deadline almost closed!
They’ve signed Carmarthen Town defender Iestyn Evans on an initial months loan. Iestyn who has been on the bench for the Old Gold in the Welsh Premier this season, will add competition for places in a growing Reds squad, as Llanelli look to build on last Wednesday’s 5-3 win at Bettws with the trip to Risca this coming Saturday, kick off 2.30pm.
18 year old Iestyn is a Welsh Schools International who Carmarthen have high hopes for in the future, having already made 9 Welsh Premier appearances over the last three seasons.
Left footed Iestyn, joins another new signing in the squad for Risca, the returning Lee Hartshorn, who joined the Reds back in January and made 9 Welsh Premier appearances. Hartshorn has previously played for Merthyr Tydfil, Newtown, Afan Lido and Cinderford and the 26 year old is relishing the challenge of helping the Reds rise again.
Lee said after signing on the dotted line in the idyllic location of Glynneath that he couldn’t resist coming back to help the club build again:
“I thoroughly enjoyed my three months at Stebo earlier this year and after receiving several offers from other clubs I let my heart rule my head and I have come back. It will be a big challenge for us all, but I trained with the boys last Saturday and they seem a great bunch who want the club to do well and we could all go far if we work hard and start getting a few results on board.”
“I hope the people of Llanelli come and watch us as often as possible as it will be great to play at Stebo in-front of big crowds.”
