WARNING notices have been issued to drivers advising of new charges in respect of Blue Badge parking charges that came into effect on August 28.
No penalty charges have been issued to any motorist with a Blue Badge who has failed to purchase a ticket in a car park since the new charges came into in effect.
The warning notices have been issued to people to advise of the new charges and will remain in place for 21 days from the date that the Order came into force.
County executive board member for engineering and transport services, Cllr Colin Evans, said: “We have issued only one PCN for a motorist who failed to display a badge correctly.
“This was the person’s first offence and the PCN will therefore be cancelled in accordance with the approved council policy.
“Civil Enforcement Officers will also be placing notices on windscreens to advise Blue Badge holders of the changes over this settling in period of new charges.”
In addition county traffic, parking and road safety manager John McEvoy has met with a representative of the Carmarthenshire Disability Coalition for Action group in Llanelli to agree the number of additional disabled parking spaces to be provided in Llanelli’s East Gate car park. These bays have already been marked out.
Under the new charges a one hour extension to the time band when a ticket has been purchased is also in place for Blue Badge holders. The additional one hour of time is not charged.
