Pembrokeshire County Council is looking to boost the number of passengers using the new Haverfordwest Town bus service

A bus service has operated in the county town for over 75 years and more recently was run by Silcox Coaches until the company ceased trading.

The Council worked with local operator Edwards Bros of Tiers Cross to develop a replacement service and a new 301 timetable providing a circular route around the town.

The Authority’s Cabinet Member for Transportation, Rob Lewis, said that, to date, the service had been reasonably successful providing more than 500 passenger journeys a week.

Councillor Lewis explained: “We now have one bus operating one timetable whereas before it was more complicated with two buses operating four separate timetables.

“There is also a flat-rate fare of £1.50 even for the longest journey.

“However, to help safeguard the service we would like to increase the number of passengers. There could be opportunities to improve the service and we would welcome comments and suggestions from users.

“The Council will be evaluating the service before next April and will be looking to continue to support it.”

To offer a suggestion, email: public.transport@pembrokeshire.gov.uk or write to: Pembrokeshire County Council, Transport Section, County Hall, Haverfordwest, SA61 1TP.

The recently introduced route and timetable are attached separately:
