Housing Matters Day Of Action

Last Friday (August 3) saw the Wales Wide Awareness Event: Housing Matters Day of Action.
Housing related support services such as Llety Llanelli have an invaluable impact on the most vulnerable people in Wales, the services are both life changing and life saving.

In an effort to raise awareness of proposed changes to the funding system and to raise some financial support towards the Llanelli Tyisha Ward Rejuvenation Project, Llety Llanelli hosted a meet and greet.

Llety Llanelli is a supported housing scheme for the Pobl Group. Within the Tyisha Ward, staff and resident’s have a keen interest in taking part in the upcoming rejuvenation project within the local area.

Among the people in attendance were Local MP Nia Griffith, Councillor Suzy Curry and Llanelli Town Mayor Cllr David Darkin. Also showing his support on the day was Chair of Llanelli Community Partnership Paolo Piana and the friendly staff from Iechyd Da.

Kristian Thomas (Scheme Support Officer) at Llety Llanelli told The West Wales Chronicle:
“I would like to give a heartfelt thanks to all in attendance and a massive thank you to the staff and residents of Llety Llanelli for all their help on the day, it was magical.” #HousingMattersWales

Chloe Moyes (service user at Llety Llanelli) said: “Without the support given to me at Llety Llanelli I don’t know where I would be right now. I’ve been given so much guidance and feel that I’m finally able to finally take control of my life and look forward to what the future holds.

Josh Davies (service user at Llety Llanelli) also said: “I was a former client but I’m now employed by Pobl. I know all to well what a difference supported accommodation makes to young people and their lives.”

Kristian Thomas concluded: “All funding is vital but if we are to see positive changes then it needs to be increased, not jeopardized by allowing more hands in the pot. If we don’t make a stand now we’ll be putting many lives at risk. We need to support the youth of today to build a brighter future for us all. It’s vital for everyone to have a home, homelessness is a growing issue that just can’t be ignored.”
