Manchester has been named the spoiler capital of the UK, according to new research – https://musicmagpie.co.uk/spoiler-etiquette/
According to a survey of 2,000 Brits, you’re more likely to have your favourite TV show or movie spoiled in Manchester than anywhere else in the UK, with 11.44% of Mancunions admitting to sharing spoilers online – way above the national average of 8%.
London came second, with 11.28% of people in the capital having shared spoilers.
But it’s good news for people in Scotland, as Edinburgh comes out as the most spoiler-free city, with only 2.9% of people saying they’ve shared spoilers online, followed by Brighton with 3.23%.
The study went on to reveal the lengths people are going to in order to avoid spoilers:
– 46% of people have avoided going on social media
– 30% have avoided talking to a friend, family member of colleague
– 18% have avoided talking in a WhatsApp group
– 16% have unfollowed a brand or person on social media
– 15% have muted a WhatsApp group
– 14% have worn headphones to block out conversations
– 9% have deleted social media apps from their phone
– 7% have taken a day off sick
– 6% have worked from home
