  • Brighton Beach and Seagrove Beach take second and third respectively
  • Scarborough Beach and Durdle Door also make the top ten

Cornwall’s Kynance Cove is the UK’s most Instagrammable beach, new research has revealed.

A study by LuxuryHotel.com analysed Instagram hashtag data and the length of the UK’s most popular beaches to find the ten beaches with the highest ‘hashtags per metre’.

The study found that Kynance Cove, located in Mount’s Bay, Cornwall is the most Instagrammable beach. It has 54,847 hashtags on Instagram with a length of just 200 metres seeing it top the list by a large margin with 272.87 hashtags per metre. It’s one of the most painted and professionally photographed beach spots in the country and is famous for its clear turquoise waters, a rare find in the UK.

In second place is Brighton Beach, one of the UK’s most famous beach spots and has 913,050 hashtagged Instagram posts to its name. It’s also one of the longest on the list, sitting at three miles in length along the South coast, resulting in 183.05 hashtags per metre. It’s very popular with a selection of water sports that includes windsurfing, kayaking, sailing and more. Brighton Beach’s Palace Pier is up there with the UK’s oldest piers, dating back to 1899.

Fistral Beach, another Cornwall location, sits in third place with 128.41 hashtags per metre. Often heralded as the UK’s best surfing destination, it’s also considered one of the best in Europe, and with 117,107 hashtags on Instagram, it’s an excellent spot for photos. With its status for water sports, Fistral beach hosts many surfing related events throughout the year, including Boardmaster Europe’s surf and skate festival, which attracts thousands of visitors annually.
