It is important to maintain a good work-life balance and de-stress when we are feeling anxious. One way in which we can do this is to engage in crafts that are both fun and relaxing, allowing you to stay calm and have fun. Craft experts from Design Bundles here share five craft activities that can help you relax and de-stress.

Colouring:
Colouring is a great way to relax and reduce anxiety, especially if colouring in an intricate pattern. It can help you relax as it encourages focus, helping draw your mind away from other things which might be causing you stress. Many find colouring meditative as the focus you use while colouring can put your brain into a meditative state.

Crocheting:
Learning to crochet can be helpful if you’re feeling stressed in the same way colouring can – by keeping your mind off other stresses in your life. Learning a new skill such as crocheting can also make you feel productive, even when not in work. Crocheting has also been linked to other interesting health benefits such as memory improvement and aiding in mindful breathing.

Scrapbooking/journaling:
These can let your creativity flow, while also allowing you to capture your memories and write about your thoughts and feelings. In a similar way to colouring, scrapbooking and journaling can be meditative and de-stressing. Creative hobbies have been linked to reduced anxiety and combining this with happy memories can be a perfect way to stay calm and relax.

Nail art:
You can use your nails as canvases for a range of creative designs and patterns. This will require focus and your full attention as your nails are so small, distracting you from other thoughts which may be causing you stress. Nail art is also a form of self-care, and you could end up with beautiful designs and trendy nails.

Slime (especially good for children):
If your child is feeling overwhelmed or anxious at school, slime may be a great way for them to destress. It works as a stress toy and helps release tension that your child may have. It can also help them focus and distract them from the factors which are making them stressed. Slime isn’t just for kids- it can help adults tap into their inner child and relax too!
