The popular BAFTA nominated Channel 4 series, The Dog House; described as one of the most heart-warming programmes on TV. I just wanted to get in touch as we have a special Christmas episode airing on the 18th December at 8pm and a brand-new series starting in the new year. We are already looking for people to appear on the new series who might be thinking about bringing a rescue dog into their lives and would be happy to share their reasons for doing so. It would be great to get the word out about this fantastic opportunity, and it’s never been so important…

The Dog House – Ellen

Rescue centres are facing the biggest rehoming crisis in recent memory, with adoption centres full to bursting with unwanted animals. The RSPCA have said that they are sadly seeing the impact of the rise in cost-of-living on our much loved four-legged friends. It’s a pretty gloomy picture, but alongside this we know that 92% of dog owners agree that owning a dog improves their life, 86% say it makes them physically healthier, and 88% say it makes them mentally healthier (PDSA report, 2024).

The Dog House, working with Woodgreen Pets Charity, wants to highlight just how extraordinary the relationship between humans and canines can be and the life changing affects it can have to both sides. By meeting the kind-hearted people looking to rehome a dog and hearing their stories on what they hope a dog can bring to them, we want to show that it’s not always just the dog that is getting rescued.
