The UK Government has announced that its UK Government Shared Prosperity Fund [UKSPF] funding, originally designed to replace former EU funding streams, is to be extended until 31 March 2026, at a reduced budget. The current programme was due to complete on 31 March 2025, but after careful consideration by the UK Government, further funding has been agreed to allow local authorities to deliver and complete vital projects.
An allocation of £12,974,852 has been confirmed for Carmarthenshire which will support an additional year for key UKSPF projects addressing local need. Funding will remain flexible, allowing the Local Authority to tailor it to local needs and opportunities in line with the three investment priority areas:
- Communities and Place
- Support for Local Business
- People and Skills
Carmarthenshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Leisure, Culture and Tourism, Cllr Hazel Evans commented:
The current UKSPF programme has implemented real change across Carmarthenshire, greatly benefitted businesses, communities and stakeholders. I welcome this year of transition funding that provides an opportunity draw upon additional investment to support local needs. I would like to thank the UK Government for this extension of funding, and I look forward to seeing what this hugely successful programme can achieve this year”.
