Sky awards ‘Local Hero’ business The Boatyard Distillery with a £20,000 TV campaign

Sky Zero Footprint Fund: Local Heroes, champions small businesses driving positive change to their local community with a targeted TV campaign through AdSmart from Sky.

Halen Môn, a famously known sea salt producer based on the Isle of Anglesey, has been named one of eight winners of the Sky Zero Footprint Fund: Local Heroes initiative. The business will receive a £20,000 TV advertising campaign to amplify their positive environmental impact.

The Sky Zero Footprint Fund: Local Heroes empowers small businesses making a difference in their communities by supporting their sustainability missions. Halen Môn’s commitment to clean seas, minimal waste and B Corp certification stood out, as did their innovative approach, which includes reusing distilled water from their sea salt production to create seaweed barrels, helping reduce carbon emissions and waste. Their leadership in promoting sustainable careers within the food industry further demonstrates their dedication to creating a more sustainable future for both their business and their local community.

Through AdSmart from Sky, the innovative targeted TV platform, Halen Môn will reach highly targeted local audiences across a range of Sky’s channels, helping to promote their sustainably sourced sea salt and highlight their environmental initiatives.

Jess Lea-Wilson, Brand Director at Halen Môn, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have won the Sky Zero Footprint Fund: Local Heroes award, it’s amazing recognition of our small but brilliant team and our commitment to sustainability”.

David Sanderson, Director of AdSmart Local and Development at Sky Media, added: “These winning businesses are raising the bar for sustainability, proving that it’s possible to make a positive impact while scaling your business. We’re immensely proud to support these local heroes by helping them reach the right audiences with targeted regional advertising, enabling them to share their inspiring stories and drive real, transformative change.”

This initiative is part of Sky’s ongoing commitment to contribute to a low-carbon economy and inspire positive change for the planet. It focuses on creating rapid change, from designing technology with energy efficiency and recyclability in mind to collaborating with partners and suppliers to drive system-wide change that protects both people and the planet. Through its TV platform, Sky is raising awareness of the climate crisis and mobilising others to take action.

This campaign is part of Sky’s continued commitment to championing sustainable behaviours and businesses. For full details and to find out how to apply for the national Sky Zero Footprint Fund, visit sky media.co.uk/skyzerofootprintfund.
