To mark Commonwealth Day on Monday (14th March), local authorities throughout the British Isles were asked to fly the Commonwealth Flag.

Pembrokeshire County Council rose to the challenge and flew one of hundreds of flags raised throughout the Commonwealth outside County Hall in Haverfordwest where Pembrokeshire County Council Chairman, Councillor Wynne Evans, read the Commonwealth Affirmation.

  • Councillor Evans is pictured prior to the raising of the Commonwealth Flag.

The commonwealth affirmation is as follows:

“Joining together as members of one worldwide Commonwealth family, we raise this flag as a symbol of the ties of friendship we cherish, affirming our kinship and common purpose in building for the future towards shared goals of development and democracy, and commit ourselves afresh to working alongside one another in spirit of respect and understanding, exploring new ideas and rising to fresh challenges, with all our sisters and brothers, wherever we may live, learn or work”
