Residents across Caerphilly County Borough are continuing to benefit from the Council’s Cleaner and Greener Enhancement Programme.
CCBC is now six months into delivering targeted environmental improvements in every ward across the county borough. The programme forms part of the Council’s wider commitment to creating cleaner, greener and more attractive communities.
The Cleaner and Greener programme focuses on a range of improvement works, including ward cleansing, weed removal, mechanical sweeping, route cleansing, vegetation clearance, gateway enhancements, sign cleaning and graffiti removal.
As part of the initiative, dedicated teams spend two weeks in each ward every year, carrying out intensive enhancement works. Now at the halfway point of the programme year, every ward has benefited from its first scheduled week of activity, with the second round of visits due to take place later in the year.
Throughout the next month Cleaner and Greener teams will be in locations throughout:
- Twyn Carno
- Risca East
- Moriah & Pontlottyn
- Risca West
- Darran Valley
- Crosskeys
- Abercarn
- Bargoed
To submit requests for work in these, or other areas of the borough, residents should contact their local elected members directly who then escalate issues to the Cleaner and Greener teams for assessment and action.
Since the start of the current programme year, 389 requests have been submitted by councillors on behalf of residents. Of these, 212 have already been completed, with the remaining requests progressing through the assessment and delivery process.
Cllr Chris Morgan, Cabinet Member for Green Spaces said: “Improving the cleanliness of our communities continues to be one of the issues residents tell us matters most to them. The Cleaner and Greener Enhancement Programme is making a visible difference in towns and villages across the county borough and it’s encouraging to see residents actively engaging with the scheme through their local councillors. With every ward having already received its first week of enhancement works this year, we’ve made excellent progress and we’re committed to building on that momentum during the second half of the year.”
