Strongman Tournament
CARMARTHEN’S United Counties Showground will be the venue for a big Strongman tournament this month.
Celtic Carnage is presenting a Welsh Strength and Power weekend at the showground next weekend (July 14 and 15) following the success of its first tournament back in February.
Wales’ finest strength athletes will compete for the title of Wales’ Strongest Man 2012, with the top two athletes going on to represent Wales at the UK’s Strongest Man in Belfast in August.
See vans lifted, fire engines pulled and huge atlas stones weighing up up to 200kg raised. The guest referee is the third strongest man in the world, Terry Hollands, just weeks out from attempting to win his first title at this year’s World Strongest Man.
Saturday evening sees Carmarthen’s first ever Mixed Martial Arts evening featuring a 12 fight card with some of Wales’ finest fighters on show.
Sunday sees the first ever Wales’ Strongest Woman and U90kg Wales’ Strongest Man, Martial Arts display team, guest bodybuilding appearances and a European powerlifting record attempt taking place by athlete Chris Jenkins.
