Youâll be able to feel the love at a special comedy showcase being planned for the Welsh Valentineâs Night.
And comedy fans looking to get romantic on Dydd Santes Dwynwen St Dwynwen’s Day could end up playing a starring role.
âWeâre looking for people who might be planning something romantic on the evening â an engagement proposal or a declaration of love,â said the star comedian Phil Evans from Ammanford.
âThe evening is billed as Comedy and Cwtshes, so what could be better than something romantic on the evening itself?â
Comedy and Cwtshes is being staged at The Dylan Thomas Theatre, Swansea, on Friday, January 25.
Evans promises the evening will be a Welsh comedy showcase featuring the very best comedy performers on the circuit today, together with a few extra surprises.
âItâs a bit like that unopened box of Quality Street youâve still got leftover from Christmas. Weâll have the finest treats all neatly wrapped up, with something for everyoneâs taste.
âAnyone planning to attend and make a very public declaration of love can contact me through my website or social media so that we can get the mother of all Cwtshes organised!â
Taking part in the evening will be Daniel Glyn, Gethin Thomas, Ed Holden, Gary Slaymaker, Ignacio Lopez, Rhian Davies, Sarah Bridgeman and Simon Emanuel. The evening starts at 7pm.
Tickets are ÂŁ12 and are available from the Dylan Thomas Theatre in Gloucester Place in Swansea â 01792 473238 or see the website – dylanthomastheatre.org.uk Phil Evans is sometimes known as the ‘Hugmeister of Wales’ and the man who has put the ‘Cwtsh’ back into comedy. He is a favourite warm-up comedian for TV shows on BBC, S4C and ITV. Last autumn, he took part in a very successful variety show tour of South Wales with the singer Paul Child.
Squeeze him for information on his favourite topic â the Welsh cwtsh (hug) â and he will explain why a cwtsh should always be spelt as âcwtshâ and not âcwtchâ. Press him for further information about how his comedy career started and he will tell you how he left school with 10 GCSEs . . . before the headmaster told him to put them back!
Cheeky, but never crude or offensive, Evans produces a very Welsh brand of humour.
