A Communities First initiative is cooking up a storm with practical courses giving people their recipe for success.
A level two food safety in catering course has been delivered by Carmarthenshire’s Communities First at Llanelli library.
The course aims to develop knowledge of the principles of food hygiene, and has trained the students to the national required safety level.
By the end of the course students were able to demonstrate knowledge of food poisoning, cleaning, refuse, pest control, health and safety, safe food handlers, safe food handling, legislation, food safety risk assessments and more.
Communities First Family Learning Worker Rhian Richards said:”We want to tackle the barriers that prevent people from finding employment, and this course will put people in a good position to apply for jobs that handle food.”
The Communities’ First team aims to contribute, alongside other programmes, to narrowing the education, skills and health gaps between the most deprived and more affluent areas.
Anyone interested in finding out more about the courses should email communitiesfirst@carmarthenshire.gov.uk or call 01554 784847.
