Two people have been fined for dropping cigarette ends at Llanelli Bus Station.
Carmarthenshire Council environmental enforcement officers were on patrol in the area at the time of the offences.
Both women were issued with fixed penalty notices for £75. If they fail to pay they could be prosecuted in the magistrates court where the maximum fine for dropping litter is £2,500.
Director of Environment Christina Harrhy said: “There are a number of litter bins in the bus station area so there is no excuse for dropping litter.
“Cigarette ends in particular are one of the most common types of litter found on our streets and are also one of the most difficult and expensive to remove. They fall into gaps in the pavement which means they cannot be easily removed using normal cleaning methods.
“Hopefully these latest fines will help to deter people from dropping litter.”
