Beat out a rhythm to Ammanford’s BDO

AFRICAN drums will be beating a rythym to make sure Ammanford’s Big Day Out on Saturday will have all the razzamatazz of a Rio styled carnival. (July 11, 2015)

It’s let your hair down day for the entire community with a packed main and sports arena programmes of attractions running side by side though the afternoon from 1pm to 4pm.

The Ammanford Big Day out is a partnership between Carmarthenshire County Council, Ammanford Rotary Club and Ammanford Enterprise partnership.

The day bursts into life with the Rotary Club organised carnival thorough the town from noon to be followed by the attractions and activities on the recreational ground.

The colourful parade-and anyone can dress up to join in- starts at the Arcade Piazza and will wend its way over half an hour to the Recreation Ground.

There is a great deal going on at the Rec . You can reach for the stars and build your own air rocket or get involved in pottery workshops, enjoy laser tag sessions or strum up some interest in music workshops. There are hair-raising stunt bike demonstrations, solar viewing telescopes to sample and all the fun of the funfair to enjoy.

And that’s before the main arena attractions burst into life with fun and games for the entire family, whatever the age.

They include Lil Disco Movers with Mercedes Peynado from 1pm and then it is all action for three hours with Karate and kick boxing, the Anthill Africa carnival drums workshop and an amazing static dance company putting on two half hour sessions over the afternoon.. Penybanc Panthers are putting on a rugby demonstration and Mercedes Fitness Movers colourfully wind up the arena fun and games.

Over in the sports arena Llandybie RFC are giving their rugby taster sessions and Glynhir Golf Club are to the Fore with golf taster sessions. There is a toddler biking sessions, tennis and netball taster sessions and exhibitions from Ammanford RFC and Ammanford AFC giving girls football a run out.
