The managing director of the region’s leading housebuilder says a great team effort has helped the company perform well in the first half of 2015 and will lead to even further jobs for the local area in the coming months.
Huw Llewellyn, managing director of Persimmon Homes West Wales, was speaking on the day that the company announced its trading update ahead of half year results which will be released on 18 August, 2015.
“Confidence has improved since the General Election in May and in the first half of 2015 our new home legal completions rose by 7% to 6,855,” said Huw.
“In the second half of 2015, we will launch a further 125 new developments across England, Wales and Scotland. Locally, we will be opening new developments in Bridgend, Swansea, Carmarthen and Pembrokeshire.
“It’s not just vital new housing that we are creating. In the last two years, since June 2013, we have seen a 57% growth in our employee numbers from 2578 to 4053, which means the business has employed an extra 61 people every month for the last two years.
“This growth can be seen locally, with our team expanding every month both in the regional head office and across our developments.”
The local team has also been busy supporting the communities in which it operates. Persimmon West Wales is giving away two donations of up to £1,000 each every month to local good causes as part of the Persimmon Community Champions initiative. Since its launch in March, the team has donated £8,000. To nominate your group or charity visit www.persimmonhomes.com/charity.
