Seven candidates are contesting the county council seat in the Cil-y-Cwm by-election taking place on September 22.

The seat was left vacant after the sudden death of former county councillor Tom Theophilus, who had held it since Carmarthenshire became a unitary authority in 1996.

The seven candidates are:

  • Maria Carroll, Welsh Labour
  • Thomas Davies, Independent
  • Steven Holmes, Welsh Conservative Party
  • Catherine Nakielny, Welsh Liberal Democrats
  • Matthew Paul, Independent
  • Jacqui Thompson, People First – Fighting for the Community
  • Dayfdd Tomos, Plaid Cymru

More information about the election and further details about the candidates are available at the county council website.

Results of the by-election will be announced on the council newsroom, on its Facebook page and Twitter feed.
