ONTO 2019! – Poem by Tony Allender

ONTO 2019!

From the vetch-rich meadows to the sandy shore,
To the town itself with its post-industrial core.
The beautiful buildings, impressive facades on show,
The down-right ugly seemingly made from uneven dough.
A plethora of parks, some with exotic trees and shrubs,
Some run-down, only fit for rodents and grubs.
From this town, as surely as lightening flashes,
Will it be this year that the Phoenix rises from the ashes?

From Tony and Elaine, may this coming year be better than the last, may all your wishes come true, happiness and good health to you all!
