Ammanford CC 2nds play host to Mumbles CC 2nds

On a beautiful Sunny afternoon in Carmarthenshire, Ammanford Cricket Club Seconds welcomed their counterparts from the Mumbles Cricket Club Swansea to the wonderful setting of Ammanford Park.

The surroundings for this contest were resplendent and the contrasting colours of the teams added to the natural beauty of the park.

In temperatures of 26 degrees plus it wasn’t just the players who needed to keep cool!

Ammanford CC won the toss and elected to put the visitors into bat.

Those spectating were treated to a very entertaining first 40 overs.

Although the wicket was slightly infavour of the bowlers, Mumbles paced their innings well and recovered well from their early wickets loss.
For the fielding team it certainly was hot thirsty work and it proved a welcome break from the action when a wicket fell!Mumbles utilised their full 40 overs and reached a very respectable total of 166.

The feeling was that anything above 150 was going to a good ask to chase down.

Mumbles Ben Lloyd’s unbeaten 72 runs not out was the stand out performance for the visitors whilst Matthew Warnes 3 wickets for 21 runs featured for the home attack. Tomos Roach and Stefan Phillips batted the visitors out of contention and steered the home to team to a fine win.A thoroughly entertaining game and a huge credit to both teams.
