Plaid Cymru Spokesperson for Health, Rhun ap Iorwerth MS said,

“Plaid Cymru has been calling for an increase in self-isolation payments since October 2020, nearly a year, and so this is a welcome yet extremely overdue move. This increase in support has been advised by Independent SAGE for quite some time.

“Fear of financial hardship is a huge barrier to effective self-isolation, and so raising the level of support is an undoubtedly crucial step in tackling the pandemic.

“I also welcome the eligibility of parents and carers for payments when their children are isolating, something Plaid Cymru has also called for.”
