  • The most stolen office supply by far is stationery (64%)
  • Other stolen office supplies include hardware (6%), software (5%), office furniture (5%) and merchandise (5%)
  • Over half of office workers revealed their employer does not have a tracking system for office supplies and equipment, making it easier for office theft to occur

Reasons for Stealing Office Supplies

  • The most common reason for office workers taking supplies without permission was a lack of necessary supplies given by the business (42%)
  • 13% of office workers took office supplies due to dissatisfaction with their employer
  • 7% of workers admit to stealing office supplies due to low pay
