New survey data has revealed that nearly half of vapers (49%) believe that employers should allow designated vaping breaks.

Vape Superstore surveyed over 1,000 vapers to find out attitudes towards vaping breaks within a work setting. In response to whether employers should allow designated vaping breaks, out of 1,074 respondents, 526 vapers (49%) believed that they should be allowed. Just 1 in 10 vapers thought they should not, with 1 in 20 responding that it did not affect them. Over a third of vapers (36%) believe that whether this should be permitted depends on what the job role is.

When questioned about whether they would be more likely to take up a job, if the employer offered vaping breaks, nearly a third (32%) responded that they definitely would. 38% of vapers responded ‘maybe’, with 30% revealing that this would not make them more likely to take up a job.

Commenting on the findings, David Phillips at Vape Superstore said:

“It’s clear to see that a large number of vapers would appreciate the opportunity for a designated vaping break at work, and with our survey finding that 74% of vapers start vaping in order to quit smoking, employers have the opportunity to support employees in their journey. With nearly a third of vapers stating that they would be more likely to take up a job offer if the employer offered dedicated vaping breaks, this can be an important consideration for employers to attract further talent. To introduce vaping breaks fairly, it’s important that all employees receive equal opportunity for a break, irrespective of their status as a vaper, and that there are designated vaping areas to ensure that this does not impact non-vapers. Set clear guidelines on the frequency and duration of vaping breaks and be sure to review the policy, taking on board employee feedback and keeping up to date with the law.”
