A&B Plant & Tool Hire, a family-run business based in Llanwrda, Carmarthenshire, has announced that it will be fundraising for the Hywel Dda University Health Board Palliative Care service at this year’s Royal Welsh Show.
The company will be hosting a special charity raffle at its stand in memory of Alun Rees Thomas – affectionately known as “Alun A&B.”
Alun, who sadly passed away in September 2024 following a courageous battle with cancer, was a beloved figure in the local community and a passionate supporter of charitable causes.
Beryl Thomas, wife of Alun, said: “This year, our family and the A&B team wanted to honour Alun’s legacy by raising funds for the Hywel Dda Palliative Care team, whose compassionate care supported Alun and us during his final months.
“We’re aiming to raise £5,000 in Alun’s memory. He was passionate about giving back, and we’re proud to continue that tradition in his name.”
The Hywel Dda Palliative Care Raffle 2025 will be drawn live at the A&B Plant & Tool Hire stand on Thursday 24th July at the Royal Welsh Show. Visitors are encouraged to stop by the stand to enter the raffle, enjoy games, and learn more about the company’s services and community efforts.
Raffle prizes include:
- 1st Prize: Husqvarna Aspire Garden Bundle (Automower, Strimmer & Hedge Cutter)
- 2nd Prize: Kranzle 2160 TST Pressure Washer
- 3rd Prize: Husqvarna Protective Clothing Bundle
All proceeds will go directly to Hywel Dda Health Charities, supporting Palliative Care services across the region.
