Jennipurr has come on leaps and bounds at Newport Animal Centre. Could you provide the purr-fect home for a cat who has come out of her shell?

Meet one-year-old Jennipurr – who has been in the care of RSPCA Newport Animal Centre since March.

Tragically Jennipurr’s owner sadly passed away – and it meant she came into RSPCA very weary and nervous. For the first month she spent hiding away – but with some special care from the centre’s cattery staff she has blossomed.

Behaviour and Welfare Advisor Hayley Moorey said: “Jennipurr had a tough time adapting to the cattery environment and spent the first month hiding. We gave her the time for her to process her change in circumstances and she is now an affectionate girl and has made strong bonds with the staff. Chasing a feather is one of her favorite things to do – and she loves all of her interactive toys. She is known to come over for a fuss and a roll around while making happy little trills once she has exhausted play time. Jen also loves to watch what is happening outdoors and would need a secure garden in a quiet neighbourhood for her to soak up the sun and explore the world around her.”

Staff at RSPCA Newport Animal Centre are looking for a quiet home as she is still a little shy and would enjoy a quiet, peaceful life.

Hayley added: “Jennipurr is looking for an adult only home and would be best suited as the only pet in the home. She is a sensitive soul who takes time to build bonds with people. She would thrive in a home with one person, allowing her to build her unbreakable bond and trust. She will take time but she is well worth the wait! With the few carers Jennipurr has built a bond with, she is a sweet, playful and loving little soul who really just wants to be loved. We really hope she doesn’t have to wait too much longer.”

To express an interest in Jennipurr please contact the centre or fill out an online application form.

To help the RSPCA rescue animals from the worst cruelty, provide life-saving treatment, as well as  give them all the care and love they urgently need, the charity launched its Summer Cruelty Appeal this week which calls on the public to donate to the cause. Summer should be a season of joy for animals. Long walks on golden evenings. Zoomies on the beach. Stretching out in the garden to soak up the sun. But there’s a side to summer you don’t see. For thousands of animals, it’s a season of pain, fear and suffering, when cruelty peaks. Support the RSPCA’s Summer Cruelty Appeal at: rspca.org.uk/endcruelty.
